Samsung Galaxy S10 5G can hit theoretical speeds of up to 4Gbps

Last month Samsung unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G. It was basically the Samsung Galaxy S10 with a couple of changes here and there, with the main difference being the addition of 5G. We later got a bit more excited when we found out that based on testing done by South Korean carrier SK Telecom, the phone managed to hit speeds of 2.6Gbps.

This meant that in theory, downloading a high-quality movie from the internet would only need seconds, not minutes. Now it seems that upon further testing by SK Telecom, they have discovered that the phone could hit theoretical speeds of a blazingly-fast 4Gbps. What this means is that music, movies, and websites should load almost instantly.

This was done using triple aggregation where 5G, LTE, and WiFi was combined to allow it to hit those speeds. Previously the 2.6Gbps speed was achieved using dual aggregation which combined 5G and LTE. By itself and only using 5G, SK Telecom claimed that the phone managed to hit 1.5Gbps which is still very respectable, but at 4Gbps, we’re not even sure if we know what to do with such fast speeds to begin with.

Note that these are speeds that were probably achieved under perfect settings, meaning that whether or not you could obtain such speeds on your own and in a real-life situation will be highly dependent on a variety of factors, so don’t get your hopes up just yet.

Samsung is expected to start selling the 5G variant of the Galaxy S10 next month where it will initially be available for purchase in South Korea. It will later find its way to the US where Verizon will be the first to start selling the handset before other carriers do.
