Smartphones these days are getting more expensive and 5G smartphones, given that they are new, will be even more expensive. We imagine that this will probably give customers some pause when considering whether or not they should upgrade to a 5G smartphone this year. For Motorola customers, here’s an option for you.
Motorola’s 5G Moto Mod, which was recently spotted at the FCC, is now available for pre-order. The Moto Mod is priced at $50 which is $300 less than the $350 retail price it will go for once it officially goes on sale. If you had your eye on the Motorola 5G Moto Mod, we suggest you act fast before all the pre-orders are scooped up!
Unfortunately, not everyone will be able to pre-order the Moto Mod at the discounted price. You’ll need to own a Motorola Moto Z3 smartphone on a Verizon account before they’ll be able to purchase it. We can only assume it is to prevent non-Moto Z3 owners from purchasing the Moto Mod at its discounted price and then try to resell it at a higher price later on.
At the moment there aren’t that many 5G capable smartphones in the market. Many companies have announced plans for such devices, but that’s not really a huge issue since 5G coverage is still limited to a handful of markets scattered across the US. The 5G Moto Mod isn’t exactly elegant, but it’s a cheaper way to jump on the 5G bandwagon if you already own a Moto Z3 and happen to live in one of the few places when Verizon’s 5G network is already up and running.
