Google rolls out Duplex for all Pixel devices in another 43 U.S States

Google demoed its automated calling technology at Google I/O last year leaving many with their jaws on the floor but also with a lot of skepticism. Google Duplex could automatically make reservations at restaurants or book a haircut using Google Assistant without you even lifting a finger.

Google began with an initial rollout of Duplex to select regions but has now begun enabling the service across another 43 States.

The service has been enabled on all Pixel devices, including the original Pixel all the way through to the Pixel 3 XL in the following states:

  • Alabama
  • Alaska
  • Arizona
  • Arkansas
  • California
  • Colorado
  • Connecticut
  • Delaware
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Hawaii
  • Idaho
  • Illinois
  • Iowa
  • Kansas
  • Maine
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts
  • Michigan
  • Mississippi
  • Missouri
  • Nevada
  • New Hampshire
  • New Jersey
  • New Mexico
  • New York
  • North Carolina
  • North Dakota
  • Ohio
  • Oklahoma
  • Oregon
  • Pennsylvania
  • Rhode Island
  • South Carolina
  • South Dakota
  • Tennessee
  • Utah
  • Vermont
  • Virginia
  • Washington
  • West Virginia
  • Wisconsin
  • Wyoming

Google Duplex is an excellent use of artificial intelligence to automate tasks that constant, such as making a reservation. Google has set up a dedicated page for businesses for information about what the service is about and how to opt-out. Duplex will announce that the call is automated to ensure there is no confusion, which takes the weirdness level down, slightly.

Being from the UK, I’ve not had a chance to try out Google Duplex. Let us know in the comments below if you’ve tried Duplex.
