The Pixel 3’s March Security patch includes long-awaited camera fix

Google has just released the Android’s March Security Patch for the Pixel 3. As usual, the patch plugs a few new vulnerabilities that have been discovered in Android, but Google has also used the update to introduce a few Pixel 3 specific issues. The biggest one is a fix which improves the startup and responsiveness of the pixel 3’s camera app. Those who own the Pixel 3 have been waiting for this fix for a very long time. While the camera on Google’s 2018 flagship smartphone is considered one of the best on the market, the app is notoriously sluggish.

Other fixes included in the update include Bluetooth reliability, improvements to storage performance on the device and a better chance of safely recovering from a failed OTA update. The full list of tweaks or improvements can be found below.

If you have not yet received the March Security Patch update notification on your Pixel 3, you can try triggering it manually by going to Settings > System > Advanced > System update to see if it’s available for download on your device. Once the update is installed, let us know if the Pixel 3 camera app opens any quicker than it currently does.
