Opera is bringing its secure VPN browsing feature to Android

0

With all the privacy scandals that we’re hearing about these days, it’s probably a good idea to start taking active steps towards protecting our privacy online. There are ways to go about doing that, such as subscribing to a VPN service. In some cases some VPN services will charge you a subscription fee, but in case you’d rather not pay, Opera might have something for you.

The company has recently announced that they will be bringing its VPN feature built into its desktop browser onto Android devices. This means that in theory, you should be able to expect the same level of protection and privacy on your phone as you would your desktop. At the moment the feature is currently in beta but we imagine that it won’t be too long until it is available for all.

Opera’s VPN browser feature is free to use so users won’t have to pay for any additional fees or subscriptions. All users need to do is open the settings in the browser where they can then choose to activate or deactivate the feature. It is as simple as that. That being said, while we aren’t knocking free VPNs, there might be certain limitations or features that free VPNs do not have compared to their paid counterparts.

Also, we should point out that this VPN is only for the browser, which means that unless you use Opera’s browser, you won’t be able to take advantage of it. This is compared to other third-party VPN services that might be able to protect your handset’s privacy in full. If you don’t mind taking part in the beta, you can head on over to the Google Play Store for the download.
