Google Pay, Samsung Pay can finally be used at Target

In this modern day and age, paying using our smartphones seems to be the thing. It not only saves us from having to bring out our wallets, but it can also be convenient if you don’t have enough cash on you. Many retailers nationwide started accepting mobile payments years ago, but Target has been one of the bigger holdouts, at least until now.

The retailer has recently announced that they will now start accepting contactless payments, such as Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and for our readers who might have an iOS or Apple Watch device, Apple Pay as well. The process to make payments is pretty straightforward and will be the same as you have done at other retailers. All users need to do is select the payment service they want to use, hold their device near the card reader at checkout, and they’ll be good to go. According to Mike McNamara, Target’s chief information officer:

“Offering guests more ways to conveniently and quickly pay is just another way we’re making it easier than ever to shop Target.”

Target was not the only major retailer who was holding out on mobile payment services. Walmart has also yet to accept such payment services and have instead chosen to use its own platform called Walmart Pay. Getting Target to come around on mobile payments is certainly a pretty big deal, and hopefully, it will also manage to convince other companies holding out to make a similar change. Giving consumers the option to choose how they want to pay is always a good thing.
