Sharp Aquos Zero will be making its way outside of Japan
Brands like Samsung, LG, HTC, and Motorola are pretty familiar to a lot of us. However, there exists a lot of other smartphone brands in the world that are typically sold in specific markets, like over in Japan where we can find phones from brands such as Fujitsu and Sharp.
Occasionally one or two models from these companies find their way outside of Japan, like the Sharp Aquos Zero, it has recently been confirmed that it will be sold outside of Japan. The first market that the Sharp Aquos Zero will be hitting is Taiwan where it will be priced at TWD 19,990, which is roughly $650 after conversion.
In terms of specs, the Sharp Aquos Zero will be sporting hardware that one might expect from a 2018 flagship. This includes the use of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset and it will be accompanied by 6GB of RAM, 128GB of non-expandable storage, and a 6.2-inch curved OLED screen with a QHD+ resolution.
Unfortunately unlike most flagship phones from 2018, Sharp has opted not to give the Aquos Zero a dual camera and it will instead use a 22.6MP sensor with an aperture of f/1.9, along with an 8MP front-facing shooter. While the lack of dual cameras might be a deal breaker for some, note that other companies such as Google have successfully gotten away with it through the use of clever software. We’re not saying this is what Sharp has done, but just because a phone has a single camera doesn’t make it “bad”.
The phone will also run on Android 9.0 Pie and will come with a 3,130 mAh battery and is IP68 rated against dust and water. There is no mention of which other markets the phone will be releasing in after Taiwan, but we’ll keep an eye out for it.
