Most of the things we see at CES are typically the same, but the Nubia X definitely stands out in the crowd. Announced back in October of 2018, the Nubia X features a full-screen display without a notch for the front-facing camera. Instead, the device does away with the front-facing camera all together by adding a 5.1-inch display on the back of the phone, allowing you to capture perfect selfies with a dual-sensor camera on the back.
The concept is a bit novel, but also quite practical. In addition to using the secondary display to frame your selfies, it can also be customized to display messages or a clock or act as the perfect multi-tasking tool. The software on the phone allows users to run different applications on the front and back display simultaneously. That means you can have a web page open on one and a video playing on the other. We didn’t notice any lag when playing a game and then flipping the phone over to browse the web.
Like most Nubia devices, this phone isn’t available in the US or European markets. All the features that are packed into the Nubia X will likely be included in a 2019 flagship device from the company which will have the latest Snapdragon 855 and availability in markets outside of China.
