The Nokia 9 PureView, based on the rumored specs and leaks, sounds like it could be an interesting phone. After all we’ve seen phones with triple and quadruple camera setups, but to have a penta-lens setup? Color us curious! However if there are some concerns, it would be that it seems to be “missing” 5G, and the use of the Snapdragon 845 might raise some eyebrows.
However in a tweet by a Twitter account calling themselves Nokia_Leaks, HMD Global is said to already be working on a successor to the Nokia 9 PureView. This successor is expected to arrive in August where it will feature specs that could put it on par with 2019’s flagship smartphones from other companies.
This includes the use of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chipset, support for 5G, and a 2K edge-to-edge hole-in display. This should be very much welcome given that the leaked renders we’ve seen show rather fat bezels at the top and bottom of the phone. While these sound like exciting features to look forward to, the current (rumored) specs of the Nokia 9 PureView shouldn’t be scoffed at either.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 is a powerful chipset, but our concern is mostly perception where we imagine that in a landscape that will be filled with Snapdragon 855-powered devices, will the -camera be enough to make customers choose the Nokia 9 PureView over phones like the Samsung Galaxy S10? We’ll just have to wait and see.
