The fall smartphone cycle is getting more interesting by the day. The upcoming Huawei Mate 20 Pro has been fully revealed in a handful of leaked images which give us a good look at the front and back of the device. The images show that the Huawei Mate 20 Pro sports a substantial notch which houses the front-facing camera, speaker and other sensors. The device doesn’t appear to have a secondary camera up front or an IR sensor which would provide more secure facial recognition. The display itself is said to feature a 6.3-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels with an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Powering the Huawei Mate 20 is the newly-announced 7 nanometer Kirin 980 with eight ARM Cortex-A55 and Cortex-A76 cores arranged is three clusters. The camera module on the back feature three sensors and an LED flash which are arranged in a square. Very little is known about the details of the three camera sensors, but the image prominently features the Leica logo which means we should expect something similar to what we got with the Huawei P20 Pro.
The images show that the Huawei Mate 20 Pro will be available in at least three different colors. THe main color appears to resemble the multi-color option of the P20 Pro, but there’s also a diagonally-striped and a black option as well.
As for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro’s release date, the company has scheduled a press event in London for October 16 with a possible retail launch set for late October. The phone will be available across most of Europe and Asia, but it’s still not clear if the phone will be making it to the US.
