Yesterday we saw a deal from Woot! where you could save a few bucks and get a refurbished Pixel 2 for $530 or Pixel 2 XL for $580. Today, it seems that Google is beginning to help recognize those loyal Nexus owners, as the company has started sending emails offering 20% off of either device.
This 20% savings brings the standard Pixel 2 down to around $520, while the Pixel 2 XL will go for $680. This may not seem like much, but considering how rare it is to save money on Pixel devices directly from Google, this may be the best time to jump on the train.
It seems that Google may be “cherry-picking” who receives this emails, as some users on Reddit are claiming to not have received an email, despite owning many devices in the Nexus lineup. The other odd thing is that the email is also being sent out to some that already own either the Pixel 2 or 2 XL, so we aren’t exactly sure what Google’s method for selection is.
The potential downside here is the fact that it seems that these deals are not transferable, meaning that you can’t just give a discount code to a buddy who didn’t get the email. However, if you are on the fence, have the email, but want to wait and see what’s happening at MWC 2018 before deciding, the email offer doesn’t expire until the end of the month. By then, the Galaxy S9 and a myriad of other devices will be announced, so you can properly weigh your options.
