About a month ago, a couple of unannounced devices from Alcatel randomly appeared on Amazon France. The Alcatel 5 and Alcatel 3V were listed for pre-order, but there was no actual spec-sheet to go off of, nor was there any mention of a possible release.

Now, Alcatel has not only confirmed the existence of these devices, but also has announced a third. This new Alcatel lineup will be unveiled at MWC 2018 on February 24th.

Now, Alcatel has not only confirmed the existence of these devices, but also has announced a third. This new Alcatel lineup will be unveiled at MWC 2018 on February 24th.

While the Alcatel 3V and Alcatel 1X look a bit more boring in the design department, the Alcatel 5 is sure to steal the show. The 5 has a unique bezel-less design, save for the very top of the device which houses a huge forehead.

This is a bit reminiscent of Sharp’s Aquos lineup of bezel-less devices, except for the fact that the chin is huge, versus the forehead. Unfortunately, Alcatel stopped short of sharing any specs or other teasers for these devices.

Instead, we’ll have to just wait for a little over a week before MWC 2018 gets underway and the floodgates open, marking the true beginning of the 2018 smartphone year.  Let us know what you think about these devices in the comments below, and if you like the design of the Alcatel 5.
