Nest was acquired by Google in 2014 for $3.2 billion. Everyone, especially Android fans, got excited about the two teaming up to build great things. However, in 2015, Alphabet was formed, and Google and Nest became separate brands. Nest and Google have worked separately on products that integrate with each other, but the collaboration is about to get even closer.

The folks at Nest are officially rejoining Google’s hardware team to build more smart home products. Nest devices already work great with Google’s Home system, but this new relationship would bring them closer together. Google has made a big push in smart home devices in the last year, so it makes sense to bring Nest back into the fold. This would allow them to compete with Amazon’s Echo ecosystem much more aggressively.

Do you use Nest products? Do you have them integrated with Google services?
