Despite being available for the better part of five months, Android Oreo is still working its way onto many devices that were launched last year. The latest of which comes from the Honor lineup with owners of both the Honor 8 Pro and Honor 9 reporting that Oreo is beginning to arrive on devices.
The catch here comes in form of the region of which these devices are seeing the update, as it seems things are limited to the UK at first. Unfortunately, there was no mention or confirmation as to whether this update would be making its way to more and more regions.
Regardless, it would be highly unlikely for Honor to not bring Oreo to more devices once the company has confirmed that all of the bugs are worked out in this incremental push. The move to bring Oreo to the Honor 9 and 8 Pro comes after Huawei already began pushing the update to the likes of the Huawei Mate 9 to those of us here in the States.
As for some of the features that are coming to the Honor 9 and 8 Pro, you can expect all of the usual goodies such as Picture-in-Picture, speed increases, and more. It’s also important to remember that you won’t have a “stock” version of Android, as this build of Oreo is built on EMUI 8.0, Huawei’s latest version of its software overlay.
Let us know if you begin seeing the update arrive on your devices, and how it’s currently running for you.
