About 10 days ago, we got our first glimpse of the Sharp Aquos S3 after the device passed through China’s TENAA certifications. The device features a bezel-less display, along with dual rear-facing cameras, an LED flash, and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The device is expected to be officially introduced at an event in Taiwan next week, but now we are getting our first “hands-on” look at the Aquos S3. The device has now passed through Taiwan’s National Communications Commission (NCC), giving us a better look at what to expect from the upcoming device.
When looking at the front of the device, we can see that the Aquos S3 will have what appears to be a notch at the top where the front-facing camera and earpiece are housed. This is similar to that of the iPhone X, meanwhile, the bezels on the bottom are just big enough for Sharp to slap a logo in your face.
On the right side of the frame, the Aquos S3 will have both the power button and volume rocker. Moving to the rear of the device, there is a vertically-mounted dual-camera setup with a microphone cutout atop and the LED flash below. In the center of the rear, Sharp has mounted its fingerprint scanner, which is a necessary move considering the move to an 18:9 display.
Previous leaks have confirmed that the Aquos S3 will have the following specs:
We aren’t exactly sure as to how much the Aquos S3 will be priced at, nor do we have any idea if this will make its way to other markets. We’ll be sure to keep everyone updated after Sharp’s event next week.
