The smart home speaker wars are getting intense. Google was relatively late to the game, but they’ve wasted no time catching up to Amazon. The original Google Home was a great device, but Google didn’t have the diversity of Amazon’s Echo line. That changed in October with the ultra-affordable Home Mini and later with the Home Max.
So how has all of this translated into sales? Google has revealed that it sold more than one Home device every second since October. If you do the math, that comes in around 6 million units. We don’t know how those sales breakdown by device, but you can bet a large chunk is from the Home Mini. Dropping the price to $29 for the Holidays was a smart move.
