While there are many of us hoping and waiting for the Android Oreo update (we’re looking at you OnePlus), there are other folks that have devices that haven’t even been updated to Android Nougat yet. One of these devices was the Moto G4 Play which launched back in May of 2016, but was confirmed to be included in the wave of Nougat updates for Motorola phones.
Unfortunately, 2017 came and went and Motorola still failed to push the update to the G4 Play, but now owners of the device on Reddit are claiming that the update is now arriving. The OTA brings the G4 Play up to Android 7.1.1 Nougat and includes the November Android security patch, according to a shared screenshot.
Now the real sad part is that if you were hoping to see Android Oreo arrive on the Moto G4 Play, you’re going to be out of luck. Motorola and Lenovo have already confirmed that the update to Android 7.1.1 Nougat will be the last major update for the G4 Play.
