It’s a story we’ve heard before. X phone has received a software update, and now a new bug is killing battery life. I think almost every phone has suffered from this, with almost every major Android update, requiring some sort of speedy patch to fix things up. It’s just one of the many complexities in dealing with a mobile operating system. We get it.
The latest devices to fall victim to this very same scenario are last year’s Samsung flagships. Users in both Samsung’s own user forum and Reddit have been voicing concerns with a recent update that’s killed battery life on the Galaxy S8, S8+, and even the Galaxy Note 8. Apparently a screen wake bug is causing the drain, continually powering on the display throughout the day and burning through those mAhs.
It’s worth noting that factory resetting the device, wiping the cache, or even booting into safe mode has done anything to resolve the problem. Nobody knows exactly what’s causing it but it looks like this is a bug Samsung’s going to have to sort out via a software update, but there’s no telling when we could see that happening.
Anyone else out there experiencing this bug on your Galaxy?
