UPDATE: It seems that OnePlus has pulled the update from being available after reports that the update caused numerous app crashes. We’ll be sure to update this post once the beta is available again.
Last week we saw an early teaser that the Android Oreo OxygenOS beta would be rolling out to owners of the OnePlus 5T. However, OnePlus was rather quiet on the subject and did not give us an idea of when the rollout would begin, until Friday.
On Friday, OnePlus officially announced its OxygenOS Open Beta program for the OnePlus 5T. Here’s a look at the official changelog for the latest software:
Changelog:
- Updated to Android O (8.0)
- Launcher
- Optimized the app shortcut style
- Combine icon options with app shortcuts
- Now able to upload photos to Shot on OnePlus
- System
- Added Picture in Picture
- Added Auto-Fill
- Added Smart Text Selection
- New Quick Settings design
- Updated Android security patch to December
While I was one of those who gave OnePlus a ton of flak for not launching its latest device with the latest version of Android, it’s good to finally see Oreo made available. It’s important to remember that while this is great news, there’s a chance that there are some annoying bugs, but this is just a beta.
Considering the fact that this is part of OnePlus’ Open Beta program, you’ll need to ensure that your device is enrolled in the program. In order to do so, simply hit the link here, and follow the instructions to get Oreo on your OnePlus 5T.
If you have already installed the Oreo OxygenOS Beta on your OnePlus 5T, give us a heads up and let us know how it’s working for you.
