Honor CEO George Zao recently sat down in an interview with a Serbian website, confirming a handful of Honor devices that are expected to get the Android Oreo update soon. Last week the Honor 9, Honor V9, Huawei Mate 9, Huawei P10, and Huawei P10 Plus all got the Oreo update. Zao’s interview confirms software testing for the Honor 8 and Honor 8 Pro has begun and that the Honor 7X would follow soon.
Zao was also questioned over why a recent device like the Honor 7X would receive Nougat instead of Oreo. Apparently, Oreo wasn’t widely adopted and the company decided to release with Nougat and update to Oreo at a later date.
When the update is released it will debut as EMUI 8.0 and it will feature Android Oreo along with battery life improvements, new AI assistant, and new security updates.
