Pixel 2 and 2 XL camera app gains access to AR Stickers starting today

While the future of VR (virtual reality) is still a little shaky, AR (augmented reality) still looks bright and promising. A handful of big tech companies are dedicating resources to the technology, with both Google and Apple making a big push into the space with their own respective AR platforms.
Google showed off AR Stickers as one of the fun new features being introduced on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL back during their October product event. Utilizing new APIs available in Android 8.1 Oreo, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will have access to 3D objects super imposed in the real world using the camera app. Everything from Foodmoji, to 3D animated text, balloons, and the like will be available, including sponsored content from Star Wars and Stranger Things.
To get started, you’ll need to have a Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL running Android 8.1 Oreo (which is still in the process of rolling out) and simply open the camera app, siwtch to AR Stickers mode and select the sticker pack of your choice to drop stickers into the real world. The 3D stickers can be resized or moved around and will even interact with real life things in the scene.
