Lawsuit against Google for sexism in the workplace has been dismissed
Google has faced scrutiny over the way it has treated its female employees, with a class action lawsuit filed in California that claims the company paid females less and gave them fewer opportunities to rise through the company’s ranks. That lawsuit has been dismissed by a California judge, according to a new report from Reuters.
Judge Mary Wiss in San Francisco heard the case and issued the dismissal because she believed the scope of the lawsuit was inappropriate. The original lawsuit is on behalf of any female employee who worked for Google in California. Judge Wiss gave the plaintiffs 30 days to re-file the lawsuit on behalf of only the women who faced discrimination.
The plaintiff’s lawyer says he plans on resubmitting the case in January because it is clear to him that Google has violated the California Equal Pay Act by paying women substantially less for the same job male counterparts do.
