We have been hearing rumors and waiting for weeks and months and now Qualcomm has finally announced the Snapdragon 845 SoC. This chipset will likely power many flagship devices in 2018, as the now-defunct Snapdragon 835 is likely to get thrown to the wayside by the likes of Samsung, HTC, and more.
At this time, there isn’t much else to share surrounding the true capabilities of the Snapdragon 845, however, we do know that it is built upon the 10nm manufacturing process. This will definitely provide a nice speed boost, as well as better power management (maybe we can finally get a phone with 2 days of battery life).
We also know Qualcomm will be pairing the Snapdragon 845 with its X20 LTE modem which will provide gigabit connectivity. Of course, this will depend on your network of choice, but we have been seeing more carriers get on board with Gigabit technology.
Qualcomm’s conference in Maui just kicked off today, so we will definitely be hearing more and more information about the SD845 in the coming days. However, in a bit of cool non-Android news, Qualcomm announced a new Windows 10 PC which will also be powered by the Snapdragon 845, bringing the world something it hasn’t seen before.
