LG-V30-first (7)

Here’s what a Game of Thrones cinematographer did with the LG V30’s camera

LG is looking to get some creative masterminds to take a second look at the upcoming LG V30. To promote the device’s camera capabilities, they put it in the hands of a cinematographer who works on Game of Thrones, which is regarded as the pinnacle of TV magic.

David Franco is the name of the man whose name you might have seen in show credits. He has been responsible for some of Game of Thrones’ most memorable episodes, and now he’s out and about with an LG V30.

It all screams new-age marketing, but Franco insists that he prefers to carry around a smartphone for low-key location scouting and the other dirty work that has to happen in the leadup to shooting a scene. That device of choice is supposedly an LG V30 now, which he says offers the best balance between great camera performance and ease of use.

He was even nice enough to share with us a video of several clips he’d taken of his musings in life. The footage and the events in them are rather unordinary, though you can tell Franco is always approaching things with an artistic mindset no matter what he’s shooting. And, for what it’s worth, the LG V30 does seem to rock for this very purpose. We’re sure the thing could never be used to shoot a scene for a high profile television show or movie, but it should definitely be capable enough to capture amateur-level work (or, you know, your life and stuff).
