Last week, we got a look at the supposed front of the Huawei Mate 10, and today we’re getting a better idea of what to expect from the upcoming camera system. Thanks to some leaked promotional material, we can see that Huawei is extremely focused on AI capabilities with its camera and the all-new Kirin 970 SoC.
The promo material shows us that the technology included with the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro will be able to recognize up to 14 scenes, and then automatically adjust your camera to ensure that you take the best shot possible. Additionally, Huawei will be including an all-new digital assistant which makes use of the Neural Processing Unit found on the Kirin 970. This assistant will include features such as being able to translate any text seen through the camera, even if your device is offline.
As for the lenses that Huawei will be using with its upcoming handsets, we’ll be seeing dual SUMMLUX-H lenses, which both feature an aperture of f/1.6. The lenses will also see a slightly different placement on the rear of the device, as they are moved closer to the center of the device, but are still placed above the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Finally, the promotional material reveals that the Mate 10 will include a 4,000mAh battery which should keep the complainers at bay for the most part. We’ll also be seeing IP67 water and dust resistance for the device, which is somewhat disappointing as we have seen more devices making use of the IP68 rating. And last but not least, the Mate 10 will be able to offer LTE speeds of up to 1.2Gbps, which is something we’re seeing more OEM’s implement as we near the launch of 5G networks.
So that’s it for what the leaked promo material has shared, but we’re likely to learn more about the Mate 10 lineup as we near its scheduled launch day of October 16th. Let us know what you think about the Mate 10 and if you’re as excited for it as I am!
