There have been rumors of Google working on a bite sized version of Google Home for weeks now. We were expecting the tiny device would be unveiled at Google’s big October 4th event on October 4th but as most things these days, details are leaking out ahead of the official reveal.
The guys at Droid-Life received press images for the upcoming Google Home device, along with a few details as well. The Google Home Mini will reportedly come in 3 colors (pictured) — Charcoal, Chalk, and Coral — and retail for $50. It’s basically just a quick, affordable way to gain access to Google Assistant (similar to Amazon’s Echo Dot), except it’s going to need to be tethered to an outlet at all times. There’s a few LEDs on top and overall, looks pretty minimal and should match well with most decors. When the device does go on sale, you can expect it to go live at the landing page here if you have your heart set on buying one or a few.
There was also leaked info on the followup to last year’s Google Daydream View headset. New models look more cushion-y than ever and sport the same color options as the Google Home Mini. At $100, it’s a tad more expensive than last year’s model, although exactly what (if anything) has been upgraded remains to be seen. Once the landing pages are live, you’ll find the new Google Daydream View (2017) on the Google Store right over here.
