This is the LG V30 (Specs, Price, Features, Release Date)

0

LG took to the stage at IFA 2017 to unveil its latest flagship – the LG V30. The device offers quite a change from previous V-series devices, including the removal of the secondary display. However, let’s take a look at everything that the device has to offer.

LG V30 Specs

  • Screen: 6.0-inch screen
    • 2880 x 1440 resolution
    • 18:9 aspect ratio
  • Physical Size: 151.7mm x 75.4mm and 7.39mm
  • Weight: 158g
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 835
  • Storage: 64GB or 128GB internal storage with microSD slot
  • Memory: 4GB of RAM
  • Camera: 13MP and 16MP rear cameras
  • Battery: 3,300mAh rechargeable by USB-C connection
  • Extras: Wireless Charging, Floating Action Bar

The biggest change here is the design, as the V30 looks more like the LG G6, and less like other V-series devices. This allowed LG to include features such as an IP68 water and dust resistance rating, along with wireless charging. However, the dual camera setup has returned, and now we have a display with an aspect ratio of 2:1.

As for the aforementioned dual cameras, we have a standard 16MP lens, along with a wide-angle 12MP lens which allows for you to make sure everyone is in the shot that you’re taking. Additionally, LG opted for just 4GB of RAM versus the 6GB offered by its main competition, the Galaxy Note 8. We’ll have to wait and see if this makes a difference in the long run, but you’ll likely find the LG V30 to be perfectly fine coupled with the Snapdragon 835 SoC.

LG will also be offering two different storage versions with either 64GB or 128GB, but these can be expanded further thanks to the included microSD card slot. As for battery life, the V30 brings wireless charging along with USB Type-C to go along with the sealed 3,300mAh battery.

Features

You’ve probably noticed this by now, but the V30 removes the secondary display, with LG opting for a floating action bar with shortcuts to some of your favorite apps and settings with just a tap. This is a welcome change for those who loved the V20, but became annoyed with needing to perform hand gymnastics just to reach the secondary display.

Pricing & Release Date

The V30 will launch in South Korea on September 21st. It will launch in North America and everywhere else in the following weeks. LG has not shared pricing information at this time.
