LG V30 Battery Life (First 24 Hours)
I’ve been playing with a pre-production model of the LG V30 for about a week now. I can finally share some of my initial observations. Battery life is obviously a very big deal, especially for devices that are called “phablets.” You expect good battery life when you get a big phone, but that’s not always the case.
The V30 has a 3,300 mAh battery (non-removable). That’s the exact same size as the LG G6 and slightly larger than the LG V20. I monitored my battery life very closely during my first full day with the device. I took it off the charger at around 8 AM and I couldn’t kill it before going to bed around midnight. Here’s the progression throughout the day.
That’s pretty impressive and certainly better than my experience with the G6 and V20. That day was a pretty normal week day for me. The phone sat on my desk most of the day while I worked and was used more heavily in the evening. The screen on time was a little over 4 hours. In the exact same scenario, my G6 usually shows the 15% warning around 11 PM.
A couple of things to note: I was not using the Always-on display during this test (nor do I use it on the G6). However, in my brief testing with the Always-on display enabled, it doesn’t have much of an impact on battery life (thanks, AMOLED!) Screen brightness was set to Auto.
Overall, I’m very impressed so far. The results have been equally as impressive in the following days as they were in day one. I will have a more educated opinion on battery life in our full review, but I’m liking what I see so far. Join the LG V30 forum to follow along with my findings.
