Harman Allure is a home speaker with Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant
When we first heard of Harman going for yet another smart speaker, we figured the now-Samsung-owned audio brand would look to bake Bixby inside. That may still be in the cards with Samsung publicizing plans to get going on something of the sort.
But today is all about the Allure, a new speaker that offers access to both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, as opposed to the Cortana-only affair known as the Invoke they previously launched.
We’re still ages away from this thing being available with a winter expectation, so we don’t even know much about its internals and full capabilities other than what we already know about Alexa and the Google Assistant. It does have support for Bluetooth music streaming, has four microphones for improved command support, and sound that bellows in all directions.
At $250, though, it doesn’t look very appealing. I initially mistook it for a police siren / light. You also would be forgiven for thinking this thing can chop onions and other fresh kitchen produce.
