Meizu M6 Note unveiled with 16MP Selfie Cam

Meizu has been a mobile force to be reckoned with the past few years internationally and they show why with the announcement of the Meizu M6 Note. The device has a solid set of specs that we’ll round up for you below (but I may be most excited for the camera).

For starters, it’s got a 5.5-inch Full 1080p display.

One huge concern with big, bright, beautiful displays is battery life since screen on time is the number one culprit for battery drain. The M6 Note has a 4000 mAh battery that should get the job done and when combined with Meizu’s mWatt Fast Charging at 18w you should be good to go for a full day.

Notice two nice additions you’ll find on the photo above were previously status quo for mobile but lately have become sighs of relief: (1) Fingerprint scanner in a reachable location, and (2) 3.5mm headset jack. You’ll also notice this is USB Type-C. Thank you, Meizu.

I may be most excited for the cameras, though. Check out these photos taken with the Meizu M6 Note:

These come from the M6 Note’s dual rear cameras – one 12MP and the other 5MP – as has been popular lately to provide advanced processing and editing features. You can see some of them at work above.

The lenses are Sony’s IMX362 and Samsung’s 2L7, offering f1.9 aperture and ultra fast .03 second focusing. My eyes popped when I read Meizu’s own explanation claiming, “a camera experience unseen in an entry-level smartphone.”

That’s right: an entry-level smartphone. We weren’t provided with price or availability details, but this makes us wonder how much the Meizu M6 will cost when it becomes widely available.

Here is a photo comparison performed by Meizu against one of the M6 Note’s rivals (Huawei P10):

The front of the phone also features a whopping 16MP camera which suggests it will take some amazing selfies. We weren’t provided with photo samples from this camera, but as is the case with mobile cameras in general, we’ll need to do our own tests in various lighting conditions and situations to determine how good it truly is.

This is not only the first Meizu device to carry dual cameras but also the first to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625, assisted by the Adreno 506 GPU. There will be a few variants but the highest spec’d version comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory.

The nice big display, huge battery, and powerful cameras are packed into a frame that’s 8.35mm thin and 173g light. We’re awaiting further details about specs, availability, pricing, and more and will be sure to pass them along as soon as we learn the details.

Also announced were Meizu’s EP52 Bluetooth headphones which we previously told you were likely worth the wait. Now that the specs have been released we’ll let you decide for yourself:
