Android 8.0 Oreo (the dessert name) was unveiled just moments ago and with that, the flood gates have opened. Google has officially uploaded the appropriate system images for the the Google Pixel (carrier specific), Pixel C, Nexus 6P and 5X, as well as the Nexus Player. While you could always wait for the official over-the-air update, manually installing the system images onto your device is the quickest route, although it does require a little more expertise.
For those of you enrolled in the Android Beta program rocking the latest Dev Preview, the final OTA update should be hitting your devices right now. Since this is just the stable version of Android 8.0, the update is rather small, weighing in at around 50.5MB on our Google Pixel. Of course, jumping from Android 7.0 stable to 8.0 stable will be a lot more hefty.
Update: We’re seeing reports of “Installation Problem” coming from those trying to update from the Dev Preview. Hang in there, it’s possible Google will pull the update and issue a fix soon enough.
