Samsung officially makes its internet browser available for most Android devices

Just about every single Android phone today is pre-loaded with Google Chrome by default, but sometimes you’ll see OEM’s release their own versions of a web browser on devices. Samsung is one of these companies that has released its own web browser, but before yesterday, this browser was only available on Samsung devices (for obvious reasons.)

That changed as of yesterday, as Samsung pushed a new update to its Samsung Internet app, which made the app compatible with all devices running at least Android Lollipop. This update comes after the South Korean tech giant released a new beta version back in March which was compatible with Pixel and Nexus devices.

You may roll your eyes and think that this is just another attempt for Samsung to try and push Google out of the way, but don’t shy away from Samsung Internet just yet. The reason why is due to the fact that the app includes built-in extensions, along with quick access to content blockers. In fact, Samsung Internet may just end up being the best option on mobile devices for those who are looking to get rid of those annoying full-page ads.

We’ll be back in a few days to see how Samsung Internet stacks up against Google Chrome and Firefox, but in the meantime, hit the button below to give Samsung Internet a shot. Then, sound off in the comments to let us know what you think about the app and if you could see yourself replacing Chrome in the long-term.
