Nokia recently revealed its plans to launch its new lineup of smartphones, including the Nokia 6, Nokia 5, and Nokia 3, but has also given us some insight on a software update. The company confirmed to TechRadar that each of its devices will be updated to Android O once the latest software is released.
“The smartphones will get the Android O update once the new release is available from Google for their OEM partners, the same way HMD Global is committed to the monthly Android security updates”.
The tricky thing here is the fact that HMD Global has not yet launched these devices across the world, despite announcing the lineup at MWC 2017. Nokia’s Twitter account did reveal that the devices would launch before the end of Q2 2017, meaning we are just a few weeks away from the seeing the devices become available.
Nokia is looking to get back into the smartphone game and has announced 3 different devices aimed at 3 different budget points. Considering the long-standing brand recognition that the company has, that may give it the leg up on the competition that it needs.
Let us know what you think about Nokia confirming its plans for software releases on devices that haven’t been announced yet.
