With news of the OnePlus 5 spreading like wildfire, it has left some of those looking at OnePlus devices wondering what is going to happen to the OnePlus 3. There are two logical conclusions here with what OnePlus could do moving forward.
Supposed OnePlus 5 prototype
On the one hand, the company could reduce the price of the OnePlus 3T, while keeping lower inventory levels while the OnePlus 5 takes the reigns as the big horse. On the other, the 3T could be discontinued altogether, leaving just the OP5 as the only option from the company.
Both options have their pros and cons, but it seems that OnePlus will be moving forward with the latter option. In a post on the OnePlus Forums, Staff Member Steven G. gave everyone a heads up that the OnePlus 3T is close to being discontinued.
Steven also stated that there are “only a few devices left” in the OnePlus warehouse, so if you don’t want to wait for the OnePlus 5, now’s the time to snag a 3T before they are all gone. This move isn’t all that surprising as we near the launch of the OnePlus 5, due to the fact that the company likely wants all of its resources being used on this new device.
For what it’s worth, the OnePlus 3T is still one of the best devices, even with the launch of the Pixel, LG G6, and Samsung Galaxy S8. While we are expecting the OnePlus 5 to blow our socks off, the 3T is still a great phone to be had in 2017.
Let us know what you think about OnePlus’ plans for the 3T and what you would do differently if you were in charge.
