Coming out of nowhere, Kodak announced a new smartphone back in October of last year, with a focus on those who wanted a device that hits the nostalgia button. The Kodak Ektra was then put on display at CES 2017, at which point we were able to go hands-on with the device. Unfortunately, we were not given any specifics as to when the device would be available in the US.
Originally, the Kodak Ektra launched in the UK, but starting today, you can now purchase the Ektra from Kodak directly. As a refresher, the Ektra features a 5-inch 1080p display, the MediaTek Helio X-20 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage, which is expandable via a microSD card slot. The big thing with the Ektra is its 21-megapixel camera as the device will be able to shoot 4K video along with optical image stabilization.
For those of you looking to use the Ektra on CDMA carriers, you’ll be out of luck, as the device is only compatible with GSM networks. However, if you want to go ahead and pick up the Ektra for yourself, hit the button below and snag one for $399.99.
Let us know what you think about the Ektra and if you could see yourself using this, or if you’ll be letting it pass you by.
