Pokemon GO cheaters might never find rare Pokemon with Niantic’s latest move
If you cheat in Pokemon GO, prepare to have your experience soured. Niantic seems to have implemented a new anti-cheat measure in the app that will make it so that “flagged” accounts can only see the most common Pokemon. The company previously resorted to permanent bans.
This means you’re probably going to see a whole lot of Pidgeys and Caterpies if you’re somehow flagged as a cheater. We’re not sure which exact parameters Niantic uses to determine if you’re a cheater, but we’d say it’s probably a good idea to stay away from botting, GPS spoofing, or third-party map apps, as the bot may flag you if these sorts of activities are detected.
While some people use these tools to accelerate their progress in Pokemon GO, I know there are others who used the tool to get an enjoyable and — at the least — playable experience. I can tell you from first-hand experience that players living in rural areas don’t have a very good time with Pokemon GO without access to these tools.
So while there may be legitimate reasons for these apps to exist, Niantic still feels it’s worth maintaining the integrity of Pokemon GO (and protecting their servers, because apparently this stuff is quite taxing on their network) even if it means alienating an otherwise sizable chunk of gamers.
