The OnePlus will indeed be powered by the Snapdragon 835

Earlier today, we reported on the fact that the OnePlus 5 would include a front-facing fingerprint scanner, and now we have more information on the upcoming device. In a post on the OnePlus Forums, CEO Pete Lau confirmed the speculation regarding which processor would be powering the OnePlus 5.

We’re proud to announce the OnePlus 5 will feature the Snapdragon™ 835 processor, which sets the foundation for smooth, powerful, and efficient performance.

As many of us have been speculating over the last few months, the Snapdragon 835 will be at the helm for the OnePlus 5. This move comes as no surprise as it’s the latest processor to be released from Qualcomm and has powered devices such as the Galaxy S8 and Sony Xperia XZ Premium.

Lau also explained that OnePlus and the OxygenOS team are working hard to make sure that any touch latency issues will not arise with the OnePlus 5. This has been a pain point for owners of the OnePlus 3 and 3T, as there is a slight delay while interacting with your favorite device.

Finally, OnePlus will be implementing a new feature into OxygenOS which will help deprioritize applications which are not currently being used. This will hopefully increase overall performance, and provide a smoother experience across the board.

Let us know what you think about this upcoming changes and if you are getting more and more excited for the OnePlus 5.
