Over the course of Google I/O, there was one recurring theme across the 3 days of the event — Google Assistant improvements. During the keynote, Google announced Actions on Google would help make Assistant a bit more useful, as it looks to compete against Amazon Alexa.
Before I/O began, Google announced the new Google Assistant SDK, which will now allow developers to create Assistant devices. One such accessory was announced by Mobvoi, which is one of Google’s Chinese partners.
You may have heard of Mobvoi before, as the company launched a new smartwatch on Kickstarter, the Mobvoi Ticwatch 2, which blew its goal out fo the water in just 10 minutes. However, later this Summer, Mobvoi announced the Tichome Mini which has a similar look to Amazon’s Echo Dot but will be powered by Google Assistant.
The Tichome Mini features a puck design, but includes microphones and speakers, making it an extremely portable option to access Google Assistant in your home. Unfortunately, Mobvoi didn’t share any information regarding pricing or availability, so we’ll be keeping our ears to the ground as we await an official launch.
Let us know what you think about the Tichome Mini and if you’ll be looking to get one once they are made available.
