HTC is celebrating their 20th anniversary as a company this week. To celebrate, they put together a video to show their many innovations over the years.
The company started off with their early ODM years when they made devices for the likes of TomTom and T-Mobile. They then branched off into Windows Mobile and became perhaps the only serious player in that market by commanding 80% of Microsoft’s business.
Then, they helped Google launch the first Android phone in the T-Mobile G1 / HTC Dream, had the first 4G smartphone (though the 4G standard it was using — WiMax — is now dead), and set the design standard for metal smartphones.
They end things off showing the HTC Vive, which is still considered the very best consumer VR headset you can have today.
Indeed, HTC definitely has a solid track record over their 20 years, and while they may no longer be the most successful company ever when it comes to commercial performance, they’re still alive and kicking and striving to deliver that next big hit. The next chapter? The HTC U11, which has actually started shipping in Asia this week. Check the video out above for a quick trip down memory lane.
