Google’s first crack at a Tango phone with Lenovo was pretty good from a technical standpoint, but it didn’t really make waves commercially. It was available directly from Lenovo and most enthusiasts likely went that route, and here in the United States, Lowe’s — of all stores — sold it.
But for the ASUS Zenfone AR, things are going mainstream. The phone will be sold at Verizon in the US, Google I/O talks revealed. That’s still not the carrier-agnostic dream manufacturers want to get to, but getting propped up on the store shelves of the nation’s largest carrier isn’t a bad place to start.
We don’t have any details on pricing just yet, but we do know ASUS wants it to be priced aggressively. We also know it’ll be arriving this Summer, so the wait shan’t be long.
