One of the new features on the Samsung Galaxy S8 (and S8+) is a virtual assistant named Bixby. Samsung talked a lot about Bixby at the announcement event, but right now Bixby isn’t fully functional. The voice functionality still isn’t available (though it is rolling out in Korea right now). So are you using Bixby on your Galaxy S8?
Right now, Bixby consists of two things: Hello Bixby and Bixby Vision. Hello Bixby is essentially Samsung’s version of Google Now cards. It tries to provide glanceable information that you might need, such as calendar events and nearby recommendations. Bixby Vision uses the camera to scan items and show similar images and shopping results.
Both of these things work pretty well, but are they actually useful in your daily life? Personally, I haven’t found many reasons to use either one. If you like the idea of Hello Bixby, you probably have been using Google Now for a while already. Bixby Vision is cool when it works, but I don’t find many real world uses for it. What about you?
