Xiaomi is experiencing supply shortages with the Xiaomi Mi 6

Almost a month ago, Xiaomi unveiled its latest flagship the Xiaomi Mi 6, which was met with much fanfare in the company’s home country of China. However, things don’t seem to be all roses and daisies as a new report claims Xiaomi is running into some supply issues.

The first big delay seems to be in the processors for the Mi 6. The device features the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, which is featured in the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. These delays don’t come as any surprise as earlier reports suggested that Samsung held a special contract with Qualcomm for the processors.

It’s also widely believed supply constraints are the reason behind LG opting for the Snapdragon 821, versus waiting for the SD835 with the LG G6. But early reviews state that doesn’t seem to be much of a problem for LG.

The second supply issue that Xiaomi is experiencing is in the form of the ceramic material being used on special editions of the Mi 6. Unfortunately, it just seems that there is an overall supply shortage, one of which Xiaomi is hoping to clear up sooner rather than later.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out in the coming months, and if other OEM’s run into the same issues, as there was no official mention of supply shortages from Qualcomm.
