Much to the chagrin of many-a unlocked Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge owner, the US version of that device has yet to receive Nougat. This is especially surprising considering carriers — notorious for being slow on this stuff — already have updates rolling out.
Well, it seems the wait could finally be over, with reports of Nougat updates showing up for those using Samsung’s Smart Switch software on PC. Legend has it that hooking up your Galaxy S7 Edge with model number G935U (and maybe even the regular unlocked Galaxy S7, but we can’t confirm as of this writing) to your PC and checking for an update with the software will produce a very satisfying treat.
Here are the patch notes you’d see if successful:
It’s showing up at 2.2GB large, which is quite massive compared to Nougat updates we’ve seen on carrier devices. Nevertheless, it’s a small price to pay to get on the latest version of Android while it can still be called the latest version of Android, so get on that ASAP. We’re not sure when or if an OTA will ever be made available, but we’ll be on the lookout to let you know either way.
