With the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 firmly in the rear-view mirror, Samsung is trying to rebound with the Samsung Galaxy S8. The numbers for Q1 2017 are in and things are looking good for Sammy. The company posted its second-best quarter ever.
Samsung posted profits of $8.7 billion across all businesses. Profits from the mobile division fell a bit, but shipments increased. They sold more phones but didn’t make as much money. This is due to people buying the cheaper Samsung Galaxy S7 or waiting for the Galaxy S8. Now that the S8 is available, profits should be back up in Q2.
Samsung also mentioned that they will have a new flagship in the second half of the year. That is traditionally when Samsung launches the new Note. If there was any doubt about the Note 8, this should confirm its existence.
