OK, so we finally have a solid name for HTC’s unique Edge Sense phone after waffling around names such as HTC U, HTC U Ocean, HTC Ocean, and — in my personal musings, at least — HTC Ocean’s 11. According to Venture Beat, the next HTC flagship will simply be dubbed HTC U 11.
We had thought HTC might look to ditch their number scheme after suggesting that the HTC 10 was the last of its kind, a thought reinforced by the launch of the HTC U Play and U Ultra earlier this year. But it seems HTC is keen on reminding folks that this new phone is the spiritual successor and torch handler for 2017.
The name isn’t that important, of course, but we do also get new information suggesting the HTC U 11 will be available in 5 colors at launch. We can also take this to mean that it will take on a similar overall design, with leaked photos showing glossy exteriors on the front and rear as opposed to the metal we’ve come to expect from HTC.
HTC has an event going down May 16th where they’ll look to announce this bad boy, so if you’ve been waiting for their real flagship efforts for 2017 you’ll want to wake up bright and early that day for the details.
