ZTE Axon 7s

The ZTE Axon 7s has been unveiled with the Snapdragon 821 processor

It’s almost been a year since ZTE introduced the budget-friendly ZTE Axon 7. The device has been put up to next to the likes of the OnePlus 3/3T in many comparisons, but it seems ZTE is taking a page out of OnePlus’ books. Earlier today, ZTE announced the ZTE Axon 7s, which improves upon the original Axon 7, with a few differences.

From what we can tell so far (via the press release), most of the specs will stay the same with the Axon 7s. However, the big update comes with the processor as ZTE moves from the Snapdragon 820 to the Snapdragon 821 processor.

For now, there’s no mention of any other major changes to the spec sheet, but looking at the official press render, there’s another subtle change. Another big key to the success of the Axon 7 were its front facing speakers, and it seems the speaker grille has been expanded.

On the Axon 7s the speaker grille appears to take up the entire top border of the device, versus just a small section centered on the device. However, it’s also unknown whether the new device will include Dolby Atmos speakers or not.

If ZTE keeps the Axon 7s pricing the same as its predecessor, then we may have another winner on our hands. And before you start thinking that the Snapdragon 821 is “last year’s tech”, you might want to think twice as there have already been a few OEM’s releasing flagship devices with this processor.
