Android 7.1.2 Nougat breaks Nexus Imprint for some Nexus and Pixel owners
Last week, Google started rolling out Android 7.1.2 Nougat to Nexus and Pixel owners, but it seems there are some issues. A few users have reported losing the ability to use their fingerprint scanners altogether, which has been compounded when users remove their saved fingerprints.
After removing the saved fingerprints, the Nexus Imprint setting option has completely disappeared from the Settings. This means there is obviously a large bug within the OTA file for Android 7.1.2.
Kris from Android Authority has tested his Pixel and Nexus 6P, only to find the issue to not be affecting his devices. However, he states that he flashed the update file manually, versus updating via the OTA. So if you are affected by this bug, we recommend flashing the Android 7.1.2 file manually versus accepting the OTA update.
There are already forum posts describing the issue via the Google Pixel User Community Forum, as well as the Nexus Help Forum. So hopefully, we’ll hear something from Google sooner rather than later, and will be able to get our devices running normally in the very, very near future.
