It looks like Motorola may be prepping a new entry-level smartphone for launch at some point in 2017. Details are scarce, but according to information leaked by Roland Quandt, this device will suppossedly be codenamed “Cedric” and its early specs may indicate that it won’t be breaking records in terms of internals.
The device may be available in single- or dual-SIM variants, an indication that it’s headed for developing markets. The RAM and storage at 2GB and 16GB respectively also tell a similar tale. Quandt seems to imply that we should expect a Snapdragon 400-series chipset to accompany all this, but it’s tough to tell whether that’s merely an educated guess.
But most exciting is that it would ship with Android 7.0 Nougat, which is a relic not widely available at the moment. This could be a great way for someone looking to get a Nougat device to get one on the cheap in case they can’t spring for anything more juicy.
We’re imagining that all of this won’t come to fruition until at least 2017, so if you are looking for something that won’t break the bank to take you up to Nougat, keep your eyes peeled.
