Earlier today, T-Mobile announced Digits which is a new program that allows customers to use the same phone number across multiple devices or different phone numbers on the same device. The service feels like a Google Voice-esque implementation which allowed you to sign up for one phone number then text and make phone calls using the Voice application on any smartphone or the computer.
With DIGITS, your T-Mobile number works across virtually all your connected devices—phones, tablets, wearables and computers. And, in another Un-carrier first, DIGITS lets customers put multiple T-Mobile numbers on the same device, so you can combine work, home and personal numbers on a single smartphone.
The service is available starting today for post-paid customers, with plans of a more widespread rollout coming next year. However, not everything has been roses and daisies with the release of Digits.
More than a few users are stating that accounts that are not their own have been exposed during the sign up process. Apparently, when going through the sign up process, there is a flaw which displays random phone numbers and account details for other customers.

This is obviously a rather large issue, and one that T-Mobile needs to act on as fast as they can. Hopefully, there will be enough users that notice this issue to raise some awareness so they account information doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.
If you’ve run into the same problem when trying to set up Digits with your T-Mobile account, give us a heads up. In the meantime, we’ll just have to wait until T-Mobile fixes the issue.
T-Mobile has reached out to us here at Phandroid and state they have fixed any issues that were causing security concerns. Here’s what we were told by a T-Mobile spokesperson:
“For a brief period this morning we had an issue with our beta registration site and we quickly resolved the issue. We will follow up with any impacted customers directly.”
