Sony has announced that they’re bringing games to mobile! They’ll bring 10 titles, and we already have a list of which exact IPs we are to see. Take a look:
Some of these titles are obviously Japan-centric and we’re not sure if all of these will be made available on a global basis, but we’d say Hot Shots Golf, PaRappa the Rapper (rhythm game), Disgaea (Tactical RPG), Wild Arms (RPG) and Arc The Lad (RPG) are all likely to be extended to other regions.
This wouldn’t be the first time Sony has tried mobile gaming. Their first efforts came way back when the Xperia Play first launched. This unique device had a built-in gamepad for playing PlayStation Classics as well as mobile-specific titles, though the mobile offerings were mostly games you could already get from Google Play.
We imagine this new effort will focus less on ports and more on making unique experiences for mobile, such as what Nintendo is doing with Super Mario Run.
Unfortunately, we won’t get to see all of these titles in the near future, as Sony has plans to release just 6 of them in 2017. That said, 6 games is a great start and we’re rooting for their success so other traditional gaming companies follow suit.
